So, here I am, living in New York City.
This is day 149 for me. And I am loving every moment of it.
New York is one of the most interesting cities that I have ever lived in. It is definitely my favorite city of all time! I have always wanted to come here, and to be able to come here and be a part of the greatest ministry, the Dream Center, makes it that much better!
It is a rather interesting city to do ministry in, though! There are so many people here, and we want to reach them all! We are doing a lot of things, going into the city, handing out fliers, talking to people, and trying to build relationships. One of the biggest challenges we are facing right now is the weather! Man, is it cold out here! But that means that people are not just walking around for fun. They are on a mission! So now we are being more creative, and we will be carrying out our new ideas soon! We love a good challenge, so this is a great city to be in!
It is so awesome to see how churches have unified with the Dream Center out here. They are really supportive, sending out support, and volunteers. We have tech people, band members, ushers, and many other volunteers coming from other churces to help us out! They go to their church on Sunday, and do their thing, and then they are committed on Monday nights to volunteering for the Dream Center! It's so amazing how God has been working!
I met 2 young ladies this past Monday night, and they are so excited about what is happening through the Dream Center! They are 20 years old, and they are from some of the projects out here. They LOVE the church! They talked to me for about 20 minutes, telling me how to get into the projects to meet people, and the best places to go to reach out to people. They are so committed! It's so awesome, and very encouraging to see people so excited, and especially since they are so young! It's so exciting! I'll be having lunch with these two ladies later this week to really get a game plan down.
So, that is a little of what is going on right now. Please, pray for creativity for the team out here! Things are going so well! I will keep you posted!
Until next time, this is Sondra Walker, signing out!

I heart NY
I Love New York.
People in and out of the state of New York wear that shirt, but why do so many people love New York?
Growing up in New York state, about a half an hour from New York City, the beloved city of America, I experienced the ups and downs of this great place- blistering cold winters, sweat-dripping summers, the beauty of fall and spring...terrorist attacks and a Broadway show... but why am I and so many others so intrigued by New York?
Well, I am an intern at the L.A. Dream Center now, and have been here for a while. I was privileged, though, to visit the Grand Opening Service of the New York Dream Center last month in Manhattan. As I walked through the City of Manhattan last month, my love for that city was revived: the rush of adrenaline-motivated New Yorkers, people from every nation, tribe, and tongue walking in Times Square...going somewhere, around the clock, from dawn to the late hours of the night...the city that never sleeps.
Pastor Matthew sees the need and potential of these New Yorkers, or else why would he fly every week between L.A. and New York to reach out to these people?
The New York Dream Center is at its beginning stages, with countless lives that have yet to be touched with the love of Jesus. I love New York, but God has a plan beyond my comprehension for New York, and speaking as a New Yorker, I am very happy that the Dream Center, which is impacting lives every day in Los Angeles, meeting needs and blessing people, is reaching out to New York.
If you are in the New York (or New Jersey or Connecticut) area, I encourage you to visit the New York Dream Center services. Go to www.newyorkdreamcenter.com for more information, and blog your experiences, too.
